Professional Supervision
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the people to gather wood, divide the work and give out orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless ocean." ~ A De Saint Exupery
Professional supervision or support is often aimed at human service workers in the area of psychology or social work but can be suitable for a much broader range of professions. Masseurs, receptionists, care workers, personal trainers, administration workers, managers and retail workers…..the list is endless, but all may at times feel challenged by workplace matters or may want to work though career development ideas or require support to achieve a work life balance.
Any profession where you are working face to face with others and perhaps
hearing their stories may at times mean you need to talk things through
with someone to support you in maintaining professional boundaries or
to build upon your interpersonal skills. It can also be an opportunity
to explore your own reactions to situations and to plan your own
development and support networks.
In our lives and our work places we are so often faced with competing demands and can be overwhelmed by choices and information. This can, at times, feel more confusing that inspiring. Professional supervision can support you to clarify what you really want, seeking the opportunity and the solutions in the challenge and then working with you to move in the direction of your goals and aspirations.
On that journey you may encounter hurdles and limits as you discover and then dismantle these barriers building your self knowledge and your confidence so that the changes you make are sustainable and workable in your every day life.It is appropriate at times to consciously invite another to share your journey to support you with a safe space to reflect and receive guidance - a Professional Supervisor can assist with this journey. I have many years of experience in providing professional supervision and have completed training at UWA in this area. I am happy to share my experience in working as a non Aboriginal woman in service provision to Aboriginal people and can assist you with insights to work cross culturally in a sensitive, effective way. I can also link you to cultural consultants and supervisors if required.
The agenda for Professional Supervision is set by you and may be
exploring your own beliefs, where you fit in an organisation or even
developing more creativity in your role. It may also be used at times to
recognise how your beliefs and values may be affecting your relationships
at work.
The Supervison process encourages and supports you to finding the solutions to your challenges and struggles for yourself. It is also a space to learn about who you are and to celebrate and honour your values, your talents and your personality.
I am excited to share my skills knowledge and experience with people who are seeking greater clarity and awareness in their own lives and who want to explore their aspirations and gain personal insight, set their sights on real happiness and make positive, practical changes that will support them to progress towards personal and professional goals with the skills to manage their own triumphs and challenges.
